Jacky John - CARMEL POTTERY

At the moment my work is mainly functional kitchenware. I believe that eating should be definitely nutritious, mostly healthy but always fun and I hope that whatever you choose to eat or drink, my crockery always makes you smile. To create my pots I throw stoneware clay, on the potters wheel and use high firing glazes in a reduction atmosphere to create beautiful, exciting finishes.

The unpredictable nature of the gas kiln, enables me to be constantly excited by the serendipity of the end results. Even when you believe each firing process to be identical, just a small change in the environment can create a difference in the finish of the glaze, thus ensuring that every single piece is unique - magic!

Witches, crows, bats and pirates are all part of Adele world. You won't find anything like it, anywhere else!

She also makes large bags for shopping, lavender bags for sniffing and tiny bags to keep baby teeth safe for the tooth fairy.  People travel a long way to visit Adele's unique and original crafts.

ALAN PERRY - Blacksmith

'Spire'

I enjoy the process of heating the uniform stock metal, either new or reclaimed, until it reaches a malleable state and then using hammer blows to transform it.

Wherever possible I use traditional, ancient techniques in my work, although my forge blower is electric, not hand or foot pumped bellows, and my power hammer also runs on electric, not water or steam power as was once the case.

ALED JENKINS

Aled Jenkins used to be a civil engineer but has had a lifelong interest in crafts. He lives and works near Llandysul.

Aled is a genuine craftsman and makes beautiful pendants, mirrors, clocks, birdhouses and vases out of  slate.

The raw material he uses are recycled Welsh roofing slates and off-cuts from slate window-sill slabs. His work is extremely tactile and has a lovely smooth finish.

ARTIFEATZ - Elaine Topping

About

My work is influenced by what surrounds: light source, weather, colour, shade and sound. Permanence and change, movement and stillness, the process is as equal as the product, the subject becomes object.
I am happy to take commissions and can tailor work to suit you.
